Faith First: Legacy Edition KIDs Club
Faith First Legacy Edition introduces and reinforces the timeless truths of our Catholic faith doctrine, Scripture, and the liturgical year—every year on every grade level to provide a transformative catechesis encouraging the integration of faith and life. At St. Angela Merici Catholic Church CCE for grades Kindergarten through fifth grade is called KIDs Club. Families with Elementary children have 3 choices of sessions and an at home option.
Classes begin in September and continue into May. KIDs Club is designed for children who are not attending Catholic schools. Children attending Catholic schools already receive religious teaching through the regular curriculum. However, even Catholic school children need to register to attend if they intend to prepare for 1st Eucharist & 1st Penance in that year (ususally 2nd grade). Registration will begin in June and continue through the summer. Classes are contingent on having volunteers to lead them. Please consider volunteering as a part of the KIDs Club Core Team below.
Home & Family Option
As an option, for families who cannot fit our KIDs Club times into their family schedule, we offer home based Catechesis for children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. The program is a 26 lesson program. This can be taught at home under the parent’s discretion in the form of one lesson per week or every other week through the entire year. This option also requires participation in an introductory meeting and 2 parent child sessions throughout the year. The year closes with a family interview.
1st Penance & 1st Communion Sacramental Preparation
The usual time for the preparation for these two sacraments of initiation is 2nd Grade. However, if the child is baptized and has not received these sacraments please indicate on your registration form or call the office. There is an Archdiocesan requirement of one previous year of formation prior to preparing for the sacraments.
This can be accomplished by attending 1st Grade CCE (KIDs Club), Catholic School, or the previous year in some other preparation process. If your child does not fit into this form, please contact Karen Ann Martin to work out how best to care for your child’s sacramental needs.
Those children preparing for sacraments will study these sacraments within their 2nd Grade curriculum. Parents will also be asked to attend one parent meeting and 2 parent child sessions. Parents, as the primary educators of their children will be asked to complete the immediate preparation books with the children also. Resources and training will be provided.

- Substitute Catechists
- Office/Welcome desk helpers
- Drop-off/Pick- up Supervision, Hall Monitors
Additional Programs:
Children’s Liturgy of the Word
We provide Children’s Liturgy of the Word every Sunday during the 9 a.m. Mass and the 11 a.m. Mass. Children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to come forward to be released during the Liturgy of the Word and return for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
The children hear the same readings and Gospel as the adults in the church. They discuss the topics at their own level, and they are free to ask questions. The environment is positive and friendly. We recite the Profession of Faith and pray our own petitions. Often times the children do an activity before they return to the Congregation with their parents. There is no registration needed for this Ministry. If you desire to serve in this ministry, please contact the parish office.
VBS (Vacation Bible School) summer 2011
We hope to provide a VBS experience next summer, contingent on volunteers stepping
forward to coordinate the event.
Registration forms for all Faith Formation are available on this website. Registration will be open June – August. Once all classes are filled we will continue to offer Home & Family as an option for all elementary grades.
